Horse's name:Crayola Marquers Breed: Irish Sport Horse Gender: Mare Age: 3
Crayola Marquers, being the spacey, unfocused young mare she is, obviously didn't make show halter-training easy for the stable's staff. If she wasn't whipping her head left and right to see everything around her (like an ADHD squirrel), she was falling asleep- droopy lower lip, rested foot, and all. The poor trainers never seem to get a break with our bizarre, quirky horses But today was the day of the show. No pressure XD . At least her class was going to be held indoors, which helps reduce the amount of distractions. Naomi had devised several clever tricks to keep Crayola's attention: if the mare ever seemed to start falling asleep or breaking the square pose, Naomi would either wiggle her fingers at her side, hum a quick, high-pitched tune, make a quiet "psst" sound, or zip her zipper a tad bit. Anything ever so discreet, as to not cause a huge commotion or create the impression of a poor horse. The little pips, squeaks, flickering fingers, and zips were just enough to make her ears perk, her eyes sparkle, and her feet to balance out.
The black and white mare stood oh so pretty. You could tell she knew she was a cutie..... if she wasn't dozing off!
Here she is, Crayola Marquers (voters' #1 choice) in her first show! Oh lookie there, she has a left side!
Woot! Soft cell shading style again I'm really digging this, even if white spots are a pain in the buttocks to shade. I'm also having fun with the different composition placements (this one: with the long foreground; the Fiddler one: the large space on top and right). It makes the whole piece more interesting, IMO, than just the standard "crop square around the horse" haha. Also! I'm getting better at hand-painting backgrounds myself. such pretty sand again...!
If you couldn't tell, I'm pretty proud of this piece :3
